I did work on such a concept at one time.  Of course all such experiments
are usually removed before a release.

If, hypothetically speaking, such a feature were "accidentally" left in,
it would save all *currently active* layers in a single file.  This file
would be a different format from the normal object files and could not be
read by LightWave.  It would also wipe out all data when loading
(although Undo would work).  If such a feature did exist, hypothetically,
it would be unsupported, but I personally would not have any problem
with people using it.  If it existed, that is.
